Kids love to be in the kitchen. But can kids do more than set the table and do a little stirring of batter? You bet!
With a little help, kids can really get into the work of the kitchen and come out with good results. Maybe not always like Mom, but they are learning.
One good place to start is with a beginners cookbook. Now this cookbook I’m about to tell you is not really elementary as it has recipes for all age groups. Some are easier than others, but it does give suggestions on what children can do and what is more appropriate for adults to do.
This is a cookbook I’ve suggested in the past. It is Amy Houts book called “Cooking Around the Calendar with Kids – Holiday and Seasonal Food and Fun”. It helps them learn to choose, prepare, and serve lots of different kinds of foods. For ages 5-12.
